Deformity Correction Surgeries
Deformity Correction Surgeries
What is Deformity Correction?
Deformity correction involves surgical procedures to realign bones, joints, or limbs that are abnormally shaped or positioned. These deformities may be congenital (present at birth), developmental (arising during growth), or acquired (due to injury, infection, or arthritis). Common deformities we treat include:
Bow legs (genu varum)
Knock knees (genu valgum)
Limb length discrepancies
Angular or rotational deformities
Clubfoot or flatfoot
Post-traumatic bone malunions or nonunions
Joint deformities due to arthritis
Our Treatment Approach
1. Clinical & Radiological Evaluation
Full physical assessment and gait analysis
X-rays, 3D imaging, and CT scan-based deformity mapping
Pre-operative planning using digital tools
2. Surgical Techniques
Osteotomy: Bone is cut and realigned to correct deformity
External Fixators (Ilizarov technique): Gradual correction and lengthening using external frames
Internal Fixation: Plates, screws, and intramedullary nails for stability
Growth Modulation: Used in children to guide bone growth for gradual correction
3. Post-operative Care & Rehabilitation
Early movement and weight-bearing as advised
Customized physiotherapy and strength-building programs
Long-term follow-up to monitor bone healing and alignment
4. Pediatric & Adult Correction
Specialized care for children’s growth-related deformities
Corrective surgery for adults with chronic or post-traumatic issues
